No. In Louisiana, advanced practice registered nurses (i.e., nurse practitioners) must practice pursuant to physician collaboration and supervision.

Can registered nurses perform cosmetic medical spa procedures in Louisiana?

Registered nurses (RNs) can perform certain cosmetic and aesthetic dermatological procedures and treatments as ordered by a duly licensed prescriber and provided a physician or nurse practitioner is physically present on the premises and immediately available at all times that the RN is engaged in the provision of patient care. These procedures include light treatments, non-ablative laser treatments, injectables such as Botox or similar products that are FDA approved, and chemical peels. RNs may not perform procedures involving ablative lasers, dermal fillers, sclerotherapy other than superficial veins, or hair transplants/implants.

Can nurses compound IV solutions in Louisiana?

The Louisiana Board of Nursing prohibits nurses from compounding IVs in Louisiana. However, nurses may administer pre-made IVs provided there is proper supervision and delegation in place.
